So I have a 2001 LS V8, and my buddy just bought a 2003 Infinty G35. I clearly have it all over him in style and class.... atleast as far as I'm concerned. Here's the real question. 1/4 mile who wins? I promissed someone I would leave her alone until we raced once, that means my buddy is also gonna get a piece of me bone stock. Neither car has anything done to it other than a good amount of cleaning on mine :) Should I be woried that his 270hp V6 is gonna out run my 250hp V8?

Oh yeah, ILLS, expect a phone call soon. The time is coming where LS performace gets brought to the people and Force Fed down their throat!

G35 will win most likely. It's about 5-600 lbs lighter than an LS

Maybe try and lose as much weight as you can...spare, jack and what not. You might be able to get the jump on him if you get on it right and/or he does it wrong.

But I'd say with two drivers of equal skill....G35

I lost plenty of times to my friend with a G35 in an 03LS from both a dig and a roll. On the highway if I hit it right then I would take a G35 from a roll...but not often.

HP and weight are only two of the variables..... torque gearing power band all have their part in that equation as well.

You are correct.

That said, I do see the checkered flag going to the G35 assuming equal drivers.

is it the sedan or the coupe?...do not underestimate that little VQ...and dont get into a power battle either...they have waaaayyyyyy too much aftermarket support...

i dont know on this one...it will be interesting...you must film it...but the rematch will be oh so good...

awesome. i was about the throw this in. gear ratios on an ls are amazing.. how long do you stay in second? with the gas all the way down.. like maybe 2 or 3 sec.. 3rds a little longer etc. etc..

Have to agree about the G35 Manual kicking even a stock gen II's butt. Automatic? Different story altogether. I've never raced one but I have driven them and I have gone up against a friends auto '04 Maxima that's been reprogrammed, cat back, CAI many times. I will walk away from him from a stop like there is no tomorrow. From a 30mph roll I still pull away. From a 60 mph roll it's closer but I still pull him every time. While the 3.5 V6 is a great motor, the way that their auto/gearing integrates with the powerband leaves alot to be desired. Auto maxima's can be pretty doggy I can only imagine that while faster, the lighter G35 still loses 3-5 tenths in the quarter to a stick.

For some reason the Gen1 seems to be under rated. While I didn't run mine stock I believe it was capable of 14.9 stock.

After driving my 01, and driving my friends known 15.3 car.... I can safely say I should be in the 14's....which track is a HUGE part of that though

I've seen this site before and its great for a lot of more obscure cars times (and it frankly makes me a lot more confident at streetlights looking at commonplace ricer times)... but 2000 lincoln LS 7.5? seems to come up a lot quicker than that. and we've covered the number of high 14 second stock first gen LSs.. so... I'd take thost times with a grain of salt. if its the sedan G35 and you've got SST and can run well and trim all your weight fat you can... it'll be a run but i'm still giving it to the G35. no blowout, but to win the infinity.

I dont really get the 14.2 either for the G35 unless it rips outta the whole then dies, cause I can tell you when I had my 94 Mark VIII which ran 14.6 at the track I would destroy g35's over and over rom highway speeds, I mean not even close, wehre when I raced the first one I thought he was not on it, then when it would happen with every one, then I know it was correct.

Sometimes those times are hard to distinguish, if you look at all wheel drive cars like the EVo and STI they go low 13,s, but at 100 MPH, they rip out of the whole then die off, so if raced from a roll they are not as strong as tehy seem with that low 13 second times.

They 15.7 seems high also, I took my car stock on the G-tech and got a 15.02 from it, now even if not as accurate as should be, add a few 10th's would be 15.3-15.4???

Just go for it and see who wins?? I say best shot is from a roll though since The LS is a pig out of the whole

The sedan G35 is actually lighter than a coupe, it just doesn't have as an aggressive of an exhaust and tune. The 5 speed auto on the G35 is completely different than the auto on the Maxima, it rips through the gears real good. You will need to get a full exhaust, intake and tune to be able to be close to one.

The answer to all of this is simply to not leave your car stock. A saturday afternoon and a spray system for less than $500 and you eat anything less than one if the serious Mustangs. Even if you stay real safe and only use 75 HP pills (I've gone as far as 150s) you are in a completely fresh caliber !

Ran at Mooresville Dragway yesterday. Great little 1/8 mile track. New best time for me...I'll post that in another thread. There was an 05 auto G35 Coupe and a new auto Altima. Both were running 9.9-10.0's all day long. The guy in the G35 came and talked to me after I ran a 9.4 in front of him. Nice kid, total newbie. No cool down between rounds and launching as hard as he could. Tire spin wasn't too bad of a problem. I suggested to him that he let it cool down for an hour and try launching a little softer. I left so I don't know if he improved his times but I feel that his times are indicative of what to expect if running up against a stock G35 auto on the street. The big surprise of the day was a 6 cyl BMW Dinan M3. Beautiful Car but either there was something wrong with it or the guy can't drive to save his life because he was running consistent 9.8's. ?????????
