I've been looking for a Mark 8 for about 2 months now. Today saw one on craigs list. $3777 + $199 dealers fee. Nice car, in great shape except no heater (blend door problem), abs and traction control issues. a 98 with 84k miles. "Pearl?" finish LSC. Great shape! Thought it was just too high a price.

Went looked at a 97 listed at $3999. Guy had to jump start it. One headlight bulb was barely lit, tail light was filled with water, interior showed it's 114k miles. Put the shifter in reverse and then to drive. Clunk. Clunk. No thanks. Went home.

Called the lot with the first car, but didn't talk to the salesman from this morning. I told him I had $3500 cash, including the dealer's fee. He said "no, the price is firm". I said okay, and resolved to get back in the search. Less than 5 minutes later, the salesman I talked to this a.m. called me back and told me they'd gladly take my money.

I'm excited about the car. Interior is spotless. Some wrinkles in the leather on the driver seat, but no real wear marks. Need to get the front tires balanced/replaced tomorrow, but it rides/drives great. Air ride works perfect. Exterior looks almost new! This car was definitely taken care of. I'm sure there's some issues that I'll be coming to this forum for help. From what I've read today there is nothing that the members of this forum cannot help fix! Looking forward to driving and maintaining this really cool car.

yea til you start having to repair things, especially the blend door lol. Congrats on the purchase! post some pictures when you can

Well, this is my new hobby car. I had my Miata for a little over a year, and managed to put $1500 into it, but only about 1500 miles. As far as Miata's go, it was in pristine shape when I sold it (93 with 84k on it) all original including the radio. I drove it on my days off, and did crap like installing cruise control, coverting it to power windows, replacing alot of things that weren't broke. It was a fun car to drive but I ran out of things to fix, so I got bored with it. Sold it for $3500, which is the fun money I had for the Mark. Actually enjoy working on the cars, but wouldn't try most if I didn't have access to a web site like this. Gotta figure out my washer pump today (pump or switch), and get tires/front end checked out. May need some suspension work, but since I only drive it to the golf course and back, probably not going to do alot with it. But then again, ya never know. Seems once I get started and read about other's problems on the web site, the less I'm able to resist ordering the parts.

My great 8, I'm south of Daytona

Welcome.:W Thats quite a switch in toys but sound like a good choice to me. Good luck with it and you can get great help here if needed.

Welcome to the site. I am a newbe too. I've had my Mark since 2004 and going through a do over. Just went to LKQ off on Route 92 and picked up a lot of parts from a 98 Base. That's just north of you. I am south of you in Cocoa. Since I am close and been with FLM since 86 I may have some info if you have a question. Again Welcome.
