I use mothers rim cleaner. works great to take out stains and giver your rims that extra shine.

Whatever you use don't do it all the time. My experience is that after enough harsh washings, often the clear coat on the wheel will fail and then you get corrosion.

I have not found any spray on wash off wheel cleaner that is safe, but I haven't tried them all.

What I do now is just do a really good cleaning and use a good cleaner wax. A good coat of wax helps a lot to make the dust easier to remove.

If you rotate your tires(you should) then is a good time to thoroughly celan the rim and wax it.

Some friends have told me Simple Green works quite well cleaning rims, follow with wax.

Good Luck,

Jim Henderson

I've never experienced any corrosion due to rim cleaner. You sure you're leaving it on for the specified amount of time? The Hot Wheels spray I use says only 15 seconds.

BTW, I've heard ceramic brakes help to reduce brake dust. Any truth to this?

brakeworld.com...get some rotex pads, problem solved..i have nice 20" chromes on my jag , washed the car and took about 10miles on stock brakes and forget about bling bling...now its more like 3-4 days , very happy

First, I like this stuff called Orange Blast. Made by Grease Lightning. I found that the best to clean the brake dust. My wife's Escape was worse than the LS. But I finally changed both cars over to ceramic brake pads, made bt Raybestos....Excellent. I can drive for 2 weeks and have hardly anything on the wheels. Than whatever is there is very easy to clean.

just replace the pads...pads are super easy to replace on disc brakes anyway...Only buy ceramic pads!!!!! they do not produce any brake dust
