Hey Everyone. I'm Mike. I have been lurking around this site since May '05, bought my 2000 LS V8 in April, and joined here in November. Everyone has helped with problems through the search feature, but this problem I can't find. When I hit the brakes my taillights don't light up. Only the third brake light and the spoiler light. When I turn on the headlights, the lights turn on, but don't get brighter when the brake is applied. I have checked the fuses associated with these in the trunk, changed the bulbs, and checked the taillight wiring in the trunk without any luck. People can tell when I am stopping, but it won't pass inspection in March with it like this so I have to get it fixed. I just wanted to check with everyone for possible fixes before I take it in. Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to be thorough for you. Thanks for the help.

My mark had a similar problem, it was the multi-function switch. I know the cars are completely different, but it may give you something to look into.
I have a LSE too And know there's little the same but the emblems

Wouldn't the third brake light not work either? The wing light is likely tied to the third brake light, so that is probably not to important.

The wing light is tied into the third brake light because when I pulled that fuse, both went out. I don't know about a pressure switch for the brakes. Does the LS have that? I don't know much about cars. Thanks for the responses so far.

You know I think my third brake light still worked when my tails didn't, hazards didn't work either. Once again a Mark VIII, but same symptoms
