Brake Light Switch Burn-Out

This is the second time I have had to replace the brake light switch on my 99 LTC, it seem that the switch will short out and fry the switch and the wires but not the fuse. I had purchaced a replacement switch at NAPA, but I am wondering if a Genuine Ford Part would last longer?

Someone at LincolnsOnline did a tech article showing how to setup a relay here to keep all that amperage out of the switch.
