When I have the wipers on and I press on the brake, I can feel the pedal pulsating to the rhythm of the wiper. Is this normal?

That's weird. If your car was say 50 years old then yeah maybe it would pulsate with the wipers since they were driven off engine vacuum.

I doubt that our wipers are vacuum driven now, but who would have thought a cooling fan would be driven by an oil pump?

Anyway, WILD GUESS is that maybe you have enough current draw when the wipers are on that it puts an electrical load on the alternator which I assume on the LS is engine driven(can't be too sure what with oil fans, jeez). That load could slow the engine just enough that the vacuum assist on the brakes could be felt back thru the pedal.

I have never noticed any thing like this with my LS, but I have only owned it a few months.

On my big F250 with a 460 engine, which I would assume has plenty of power, I have noticed that if I have my lights, heater fan, and wipers on, I do notice a distinct drop in alternator voltage and the engine slows down a tad which is audible, including when you hit the brakes.

Good Luck,

Jim Henderson

Its not that the brakes are loosing power, like they are failing, it feels like a vibration or something is hitting the pedal, like a knock when the wiper stops and rests for a second. Its wierd, never felt anything like that before.

Hey, that happens to me too, good I'm not the only one. It doesn't happen all the time tho...

Ain't that the truth JP...I swear my LS is making me bi polar heh
Oh well, guess that feeling comes natural when owning an LS :wrench *owned*

Yup...Same here. But I haven't really thought about it for awhile. I guess, like most, I got used to it.

I have never heard of such a thing! Weird! It absolutely has to have something to do with the wiper motor and the brake booster. Flexing in the firewall maybe? Vibration from the wiper to the brake rod at the firewall? It just has to be something like that. I can't possibly imagine any other connection.

YES this is so weird you want to make someone feel really stupid
go into a local parts store and ask someone to help you find out what kinda fluid it take for you cooling fan...when they look at you crazy and say its between the blinker fluid and the left handed hammer tell them you cant find either but you need this fluid and then take them out to the LS and pop the hood and watch them look so confuzed!!! :dancefool then walk back into the store and say"where is the blinker fluid"??? damn it was funny wish i had a camera with me!!!! :facesjump :facesjump
