I have a 2003 lincoln ls v8.About two weeks ago my service parking brake light came on,but then went off.Yesterday my car sounded like a jet taking off in the rear end.I took the wheel off to inspect the pads only to find there where none,on the passenger rear.Does this sound like a caliper sticking or maybe the e-brake malfuntioning? I just had new pads and rotors put on 6 months ago.......also does anyone know how to rig the key fob to roll up the windows instead of just rolling them down?

You only got 6 months out of the rear passenger brake? That sounds like faulty pads or a stuck caliper, particularly if it's only the passenger side. The e-brake motor pulls a single cable that pulls the two cables (one driver's side, one passenger side) that actuate the mechanisms on the rear calipers, so if it were a problem with the parking brake system itself, it should affect both sides unless it were a pinched cable or a fault in the caliper.

As for the all-up on the windows, I don't think anyone has done this on a 2nd Gen LS. I know it's been discussed here once or twice, and I think there are/were a few 1st Gen LSes that have/had the feature (either by a fault in or hacking of the system), but the 1st Gen and 2nd Gen LSes are different enough electronically that any solution for one would probably not work for the other.

Hey thanks for the info! I'm thinking your right,it is a bad caliper Any help on finding a cheep one? And about the express windows,I know when you turn the key to the lock poss for 3 seconds it rolls em all up....kinda funny Ford wouldn't have added that to the fob

The best source for OEM parts is Bill Jenkins (TeamFord) at Team Ford (see his banner ad on the right side of the forum). Ken (GrayGhost1) at LS Koncepts is also good for a bunch of OEM parts, but he's more into the aftermarket stuff (I didn't see any OEM calipers in his online catalog).

As for the window up on the remote, it's strictly a liability issue.

you can roll them up w/the key iirc but not the fob

Strange.... I was just logging on to post the same problem on my 04 v6. Well almost. I was driving from my girl's house today and I had a light come on that read "SRVC (P)" When I came to a stop I tried to put on the parking brake... I got chimes and the panel read "(P)! (P)". I got back in the car 30 min later and started her up... no service notice, no problem. I will have to check the rear brakes once more. I just put new pads/rotors on the front last week but the rears had 1/2" left so I left them.

Is there a common problem to check for in the parking brake system? Or should I just check for a stuck caliper?
