brake question

Yes I did a search but couldn't find my answer.
1) on a 2000 LS8 are the front rotors "knock off" type or are they bolted on?
In other words once the caliper is off can I just bang the rotors off?
2)Best place to buy factory brake pads.

1) yes - the rotors are just held onto the hub with a couple of pinch rings on two studs

2) factory pads..... why? you can get better pads for the same money.

Please post what pads you guys found to be the best. I don't use my LS for any performance driving. I'd like to keep brake dust to a minimum and not have any squeals! Thanks for the input
