Looking for someone with information about slotted rotors. I am finally ready/ have time to machine up a set and have them installed, but I was wonder if someone with info could help me..........
1) the width of the slot
2) the depth of the slot
3) how many slots are in your rotor

Any answers would help me dearly, thanks again!

Scott,

I apologize about not getting back with you on that information. I'll try to get that information to you. However, if someone has it readily available then that's great too.

why not just buy them off ebay.. check they're feedback score.. and if good... buy them..
He's going to start machining these himself which would be a good thing. Probably get a better rotor and machine job with Scott.

Yes my plan is to run a set on my car and see about wear and what not. Once I have them on my own ride for awhile then I will probably be selling them(cheaper then powerslots and ebay).

Thanks Ken if you or anyone out there that has them could give me the info that would be awesome. I have one of my machinist ready to mill them in just need the specs.

Cool!!! I've been meaning to PM you about where ya were with that project. :Beer

Yeah Slag its been too busy in my shop to work on "personal" stuff hopefully with this little down time and soon hopefully measurements from Ken I will be running them through. I'll keep everyone informed.

-Scott-

Ken,

where you able or can you get me those measurements sometime here soon? I want to get them machined up and installed within this week.

Scott,

I haven't forgot you. I've got a friend that has some LS slotted rotors brand new in the box. He's getting me the specs on it. Hopefully I'll have it to you this evening or tomorrow.

Well if i had some rotors here at work i probably could put them on the roamer and give you dimension accurate to .0001" for positional tolerances and hole diameters but needless to say i don't have any.. But i was going to ask you want kind of positional tolerance are on the whole locations on brake rotors, i'm guessing its not very tight tolerance is it?? Lets say someone measure the hole for a vented brake .25 but it was actually .2 or .19 or something, (just throwing out numbers).. will that reduce the strength of the brake.. Cause i read someone posted on here that those will sometimes crack after awhile..

I currently run the cross drilled/slotted rotors and my next set of rotors will NOT have the holes. I've seen and heard too many horror stories about cracks. The holes will definitely weaken the rotor making it susceptible to stress fractures and cracks.

The cross drilled rotors look good but I'm too old now to worry about what looks good on a rotor. I want stopping power!!

Thanks Ken!

I am only making slotted rotors, cross drilled rotors are not test proven enough for me. I have heard and read way too many stories about people having a paid $80k for a 911 and within a month they have it back at dealership with horible braking issues come to find out that the rotors themselves have cracked due to stress. Cross-drilled rotors are awesome for race cars and but not for everyday use especially in cold weather climates.

Scott,

I sent you PM with the slot information. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Ken

Thanks Ken,

I do have one other question and that is what type of brake pads do you use and are they dust-free as they call it? Also would it make sense to order Eibach Pro-fit springs and have them installed while I am having the brakes done?

Scott,

I use the Porterfield RS4 pads and they are virtually dustless. I've never had any problems with them and would replace them with the same thing. However, I'm in receipt of my StopTech Big Brake Kit so I won't be using the Porterfield pad on them. I'll be using their recommended brake pad.

As for the installation of the springs, I had my dealer install my Eibach's and rotors at the same time. They charged me like $250 to install those items with the alignment. You can do it yourself and save some cash but it was worth $250 of my time to have them do it.

Thanks Ken for all your info and help. I just called the Eibach dealer in Dayton and they want $389 for the ProKit, is that a good price? Then I guess I will have my dealership install them while doing the brakes. I am also having a local company powder coat my calipers during this time period.

I am very interested in a set of these...

Dealer states I am in need of brakes in roughly 5000 miles. They also want $326 to do the front brakes alone. $100 for parts (pads). Since I can readily get performance rotors and pads for all four corners for $350, I will be going that route. The problem is not being able to find rotors that are not drilled. I drive 80 miles a day in traffic and DO NOT want drilled rotors.

Send em an email and I will gladly buy a set from you if they are working out for you alright.

Thanks!!!

slotted are better

Powerslot makes great cadmium coated slotted rotors for everyday use and without structural integrity problems associated with cross drilled rotors. Even big names like BREMBO had issues to their ls lineup.pn#s as follows :8160psl and r for right, these are fronts.8161psl and psr are rears and retail for $115.99 each.

Tyler,

Actually tomorrow my LS will have the brakes installed and the Eibach Spring Kit also installed. I will let everyone now how they perform as of wednesday afternoon. I am quite excited to see how well she respondes. I will also post pics of the brakes actually on the car too. Until then thanks!

Well boys and girls,
The slotted brake rotors, portfield pads and the Eibach springs are installed. I love it, looks good brakes feel like they are stopping compared to my old set. I am waiting to put it thru its paces once I get the recomened 100 miles on them. Here are some pics of the finished product.

Thanks for the pointers Ken!

Looks great! Now you just need to put in some braided stainless steel brake lines and you'll definitely feel a harder brake pedal. I put the Stoptech lines in mine and it made a tremendous amount of difference.
