Hello Lincoln lovers. Having just moved to California from England and needing some transport I looked on Craigs list for a cheap car. Spotted a 1988 TC for sale locally and having fond memories of a 1982 Mk 6 Continental I once
owned, decided to have a look. The bodywork looked good and everything worked (including the a/c!) and it drove well, except for worn shocks which gave the car incredible lean angles on any corner!
The guy wanted $1200 for it, insisting that the 76k on the odometer was correct, but judging by the interior it was far higher so I offered $600 which he accepted, albeit whilst complaining that I was stealing it from him.:D
The car ran perfectly on the 30 mile trip home with everything checking out ok on the all working digital display.Next morning I took it for a smog check ,which it passed with ease, astounding the tester with a ZERO co2 emission.
I've now covered a further 500 miles in LA traffic with no problems and according to the fuel computer 15.7 mpg. Not bad for $650 including smog!!
Regards to all.....

Welcome to LvC! I also moved from England to USA, in Feb 07. (I'm from Northampton)

A couple of pics

This is the 88 TC I bought, BTW it's a signature series.

Thanks for the welcome, Blue on Blue, I'm a Manchester lad myself.

Damn, triple black 5.0? Nice snag. I was looking for one for a while, never found one near me.

Welcome aboard, and excellent find, 80's TC's any year in Black are not easy to come by anymore. Great find.

Although the car looks black in the pics, it's actually a very dark metallic blue, with matching interior.
Has anyone ever adjusted the steering box on one of these cars? There is some play around the straight ahead position which should adjust out. The Haynes book makes no mention of adjustment but there appears to be provision for adjustment on the top of the steering box.The rest of the steering system seems perfect, with no play or wear anywhere.
Regards.
