Someone just hit my side view mirror last night with his side mirror. My mirror fell off the assembly, his broke completely, it was a bmw 525. Well, my reaction was to put it back asap as it was hanging from the wires, but now I noticed that it's all cracked. It moves and heats up, but my question is...

Do I have to replace the whole mirror assembly or can I try to pull the mirror (glass only) from the housing and replace just that? How do I do this?

My wife told me "body shop", but I hate the idea. I can do either one. Even the paint in the housing is intact, I was surprised. Help please, it's sunday and I can't see my LS like that, I feel bad. The guy took a very open turn into my car as I was at the light, he almost got the entire side of the car!

I had the same thing happen you have to buy a new mirror.......the "Bracket for the mirror (where the bolts go in) is one piece so when it breakes there is no way to fix it......Hope you know what im talking about,,,,,,

Contact Bill Jenkins at www.teamfordlv.com. There is a link to the right ---->>>>>>>

Have your BMW buddy pay for it as it's his fault! The replacement is a simple operation that should take about 20 minutes. Once the mounting bolts are broken off, you need a new housing. The new housing comes with the mirror glass. Then again, BMW boy did the damage so make him pay for the whole thing as a new mirror is required.

That's what I thought...

Guys, thanks for the info. I will contact Bill as I'll also need the infamous clockspring for my 32 code. thanks.
