:( alright guys i was having trouble getting the valve cover off and finally acheived that. just before i got it off i was checking out all the valves and i have a broken valve spring. so in this case im gonna need to pull off the head and this means pulling the motor to cause more then likely its gonna need a piston. but now would it be easier to drop the motor out the bottom of the car using a lift of course or should i just pull all that good junk out the top:confused: plus now im contemplating just looking for a motor and going that route. but if anyone can let me know about how to pull that all out that would be great but anything on a motor on the cheaper side that would be great also

Your logic makes sense on a high mileage vehicle that you want to spank. As JC1994 had put it, you can do the work you need to w/ the engine in the car. Perhaps do some exploratory surgery on what you have now and shop for a new engine to be a spare that is built at your leisure. Maybe a power adder in the mix too.

Just replace the valve spring and see how she runs and tests after you do that. You might be surprised to find that your engine survived the ordeal.

I think you can change the valve spring without pulling the engine or head.:)

you are correct sir.

Pressurize the cylinder and use a special spring compressing tool and you are home free.

If it can wait..... I'll be in Chicago for the autoshow in Febuary. I'd be more than happy to fix it for you.

well when i got the cam cover off yesterday i couldnt get the spring to move at all it seemed frozen in the head. so i started thinking ok im gonna need a head, piston, ect. but come to find out after i get home from work my dad pulled the other half of the valve spring off and the valve went sliding into the cyclinder so now its just a matter of getting the valve back out and the pressurizing the cylinder. see how it holds up.
