New car...
Started motor. I ran for a minute. Weird sounding knock with some grind to it. I went with timing chain tensioner as a blame.(sounded like a chain scraping) possibly it's my homemade starter, or clutch. I don't thing anything else could make the chain knock grinding. I sorta thought coils till I heard the chain rubbing the inside......Does this motor have any other chain besides the two in the front...like a balance shaft. Or a chain in the transmission. There is a lot of junk in the motor bay. It sounded to hollow.
I'm not putting money into this pos until sorted out so I don't mind the tear down labor. Although I'd like to be done in a few days if I'm not replacing the block.
I noticed that the a.c. and fan system is junk.. Does anyone have a pic or write up of a system without a.c. and fan pump. I prefer they be completely gone. is there a way to relocate or redesign the tensioner system?
Hey hoes. Spellchecker...Hey hose. Is there a way you delete this climate control thingy under the hood. I only plan on having heat. And the heater core hoses are a nightmare. As the upper coolant hose...yes...I broke the nipple. I have a banana box full taurus hoses. From a Vulcan not duratec. Any info of successful redesign of the cooling system.
Last...The egr system. I'm assuming plug the bung...yeah...And the other bung on the other side...Look there's a bung on the front too...And in the rear...bung and hose everywhere. Hahahahahaha.
Upon deleting egr and dvvs(climate control, I'm on a cell phone. Forget letters and can't look) will my car run ok still. I'm expecting a check engine light. And my first real mod will be a tuner and tune. Any resistors I need until then?
Also...one last question..if I discover this motor is junk...can I use a taurus block and head, internals. I've noticed the can driven water pump...can I just swap my cam in and continue using the other 3 cams(i read profiles are very close) and external water pump?
Also...thank you!!! This car is a masterpiece, don't flame me for wanting to change a few thing...but I feel it is too difficult to work on, considering all the systems I want to remove are faulty.
