so i went shooting with some friends today and they had a chunk of bullet proof glass that was about 1 foot square that was around 1-3/4" thick. it held up against the .22 and 40 cal pistols and then when i shot it with my sks it i broke out a corner and then my one friend shot it with his 444 and it pretty much destroyed it... so have any of you guys shot at any bullet proof glass or are any of you into shooting?

Thanks

my sks took out a corner and its a 7.62x39mm 124gram shot where the other rifle was a 444 260 gram shot thats a lot more umph outta his

Not all bullet-resistant glass is the same. Its resistance to penetration depends on its thickness and how it's mounted, among other factors.

BTW, those bullets are weighed in grains, not grams. a 124 gram bullet would be over a quarter pound--or more than twice the weight of a .50BMG bullet. 124gr(ains) is about 0.02lbs.

I wonder what kind of glass it was. At 1 3/4" I'm guessing it was a polymer. The more exciting bullet resistant glasses are things like spinel and ALON. These are both slight variations of sapphire (Al2O3), because nobody has figured out how to make a large sapphire window.

One of the exciting technologies in my field is diamond-like carbon coatings. They're good now for certain things, but they are not yet diamond-like enough to be clear, for one thing (they're black). I expect that in my lifetime somebody will figure out how to make true 100% sp3 bonded diamond coatings, and it will be a real game changer.
