the lower valance is plastic... did you paint that too?

My car is Charcoal Metallic Grey, the lower Valance is Black. I didn't bother to mask it off but I'm not aiming the paint at it and I'm not concerned for any over-spray it may catch.

I'm about to spray mine too when we get a day without too much humidity. Running around with a black car with a rear bumper with primer is not attractive. Did you use rattle can paint or spray gun for this? BTW, the lower valance is very easy to tape off. You might not want clear coat on it.

Yes, rattle can paint and clear coat from AutomotiveTouchup.com. About $40 delivered. The paint code can be found on your drivers door VIN sticker.

I just finished up wet sanding and buffing out the rest of the car. Don't know how comfortable you are with doing this, but it can really fix a lot of paint application issues. I suspect with the rattle cans you will get some inconsistencies with the final coat. You might want to consider sanding and buffing. The results are great.

I put on two coats of paint and three coats of clear. Although I am not overly happy with the clear coat result, the overall respray is far better than the beat up and scratched bumper before I started. A shop wanted $175 for the job and I know they would have done a superior job but I wanted to give it a shot first. It's not like I could ruin it after all. It can always be redone by a pro. I'll get some wax on it tomorrow and see if it brings out a little more shine.

This is the best 'before' picture I had. It's actually scratched up more than this picture shows.

And here is the 'after', before buffing. I plan on hitting it with the orbital buffer and some rubbing compound after a few days. Then a coat of Meguiar's.

hard to tell from that angle, but seems ok... FYI you'll want to wait a bit longer before buffing... most clears (even rattle cans) are something like 60 days for full cure.

I can do that. I'm a golfer and fisherman, I have patience.
