burning smell

i have 04 v6 and today i smelled burning inside the car with the heat at 80 when i turn it off i dont smell it anyone know what this could be thanks

i've got a 2000 v8 and i get the burning rubber smell when running high heat too, my guess is the accessory belt is starting to go. you can smell it in the car and out?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaactually... looking around i guess it could be a leaky valve cover? let us hope not. belts are cheap n easy.. valve cover sounds.. not.

Does it smell like oil burning or like a tar roof? I have the tar roof smell with no smoke or any sign of oil drip (tile floor in garge, I would notice). Can't figure wher the tar smell come from. Slight seapage from brake resavoiur but I know that smell.

I got the smell, too

smells like oil burning, and shorting out my #2 cylinder coil, according to the scan.
