Bush Promises to Promote Ownership, Democracy in Second Term

His speech was a bunch of crap. Not a single mention of Iraq. No acknowledgement of our fighting forces doing his evil bidding. It took 13,000 security people to keep him from being piled on. Nice to see all the Bush Haters there, though.

Why would he mention IRAQ? Why would you mention your own error in judgement? (and thats a kind description)

Well, he is our president for the next four.
That doesn't mean we have to like it.
My momma(God rest her soul) always told me"beware of what lerks in the Bushes".

boo liberalism! hate bush all you want...but just dont be a liberal...its baaaaad! do we all know what happened to muscle cars?...liberals...! you dont watn that to happen to your linc or caddy, do ya? eh? eh?

Excuse me? He didn't talk about Iraq? Who here was sleeping when Dubya spoke... even I know he talked about Iraq, ... I was gonna cut and paste his speech (the portion about the war) but just for not even Acknowledging his words about the war, I'm sending you to http://alldebates.com/index.php?showtopic=6

Please note this will be the first time Bryan and I will get along politically

I read it 2 times and I have yet to see where Iraq was mentioned specifically.
He spoke in general terms regarding threats around the world.
He did not once memtion that this country is embroiled in a war it had no business getting into or, a way to get out of it .

Is there a certain website I can go to so I can get all the Democratic talking points? I hear the same 'ol same 'ol all the time. Time to change the record. The old one has an annoying skip in it.

The Foreign Relations committee held hearings on the nomination of Condeleeza Rice. Barbara (the be-ach) Boxer came out swinging because she is a racist and a lesbian and hates to see a black heterosexual women succeed. But that wasn't the only fireworks. The Dems illustrious John Kerry blathered on for 20 minutes during one question and answer session and never actually got around to a question. What an intellectual moron.

So the Committee votes. 18 total votes. 16 yay and 2 nay. Guess who the 2 nay were? Keep it up lefty wackos. You're making our work so much easier.

The speech was like reading from notecards as usual. I just didnt like the part about our obligations and that we are required to follow blindly into all of the wars that bush wants to go start and we are violating our country if we dont run do as we are told and fight all the battles that bush feels like starting:

From all of you I have asked patience in the hard task of securing
America, which you have granted in good measure. Our country has accepted
obligations that are difficult to fulfill, and would be dishonorable to
abandon. Yet, because we have acted in the great liberating tradition of this
nation, tens of millions have achieved their freedom.

I think im going to echo bob hubbard up there. He was voted so i have to live with it.

Yes, we have to live with it but we don't have to like it.

Really, I'm not a liberal. I just hate Bush and all the lies.

Emperor Bush. The Bush Dynasty. That's the way history will remember him.

As Comic Book Guy would say, "Worst President Ever".

I actually thought the speech was decent. If you made a mistake, lets say on the corporate level, and you were very high up and it affected your entire company, then your next course of action was to speak to your corporation, are you a pussy for avoiding it and then avoid it? Do you speak about it and defend your explanation without actually pointing it out?

He had pretty good writers and deciding on the second option was a smart move, he explained thoroughly why we had to go to war, in his opinion, (which is what it is) without having to acknowledge the word "Iraq"

First High IQ decision he's made in 5 years.

We have seen our vulnerability -- and we have seen its deepest source. For as long as whole regions of the world simmer in resentment and tyranny, prone to ideologies that feed hatred and excuse murder, violence will gather, and multiply in destructive power, and cross the most defended borders, and raise a mortal threat.
This is 9/11 as much as we all agree Iraq had nothing to do with it, it's still one of the reasons we went, so as our President he had to justify it.
We are led, by events and common sense, to one conclusion: The survival of liberty in our land increasingly depends on the success of liberty in other lands. (Applause.) The best hope for peace in our world is the expansion of freedom in all the world.
Why mention Iraq here? If you think we're done after Iraq you're surely mistaken, Iran is next, regardless of what we agree to disagree on, it's gonna happen and the above is exactly why. (And I'm not Pro Bush)
America's vital interests and our deepest beliefs are now one. From the
day of our founding, we have proclaimed that every man and woman on this Earth has rights and dignity and matchless value, because they bear the image of the Maker of heaven and Earth.

This scares me very much. Hence I voted for Kerry. If America's beliefs and interests are now "one" why bother having different political parties. We're all just robots now and the Bible is our C++
So it is the policy of the United States to seek and support the growth of
democratic movements and institutions in every nation and culture, with the ultimate goal of ending tyranny in our world.

It's now our policy to what we want, no one respects us anymore so time to be the Playground Bully. Hitler anyone?
This is not primarily the task of arms, though we will defend ourselves
and our friends by force of arms when necessary. Freedom, by its nature, must be chosen, and defended by citizens, ...

Iraq, Iraq, Iraq, and once again.... Iran.
...and sustained by the rule of law and the protection of minorities.
What?
And when the soul of a nation finally speaks, the
institutions that arise may reflect customs and traditions very different from our own. America will not impose our own style of government on the unwilling. Our goal instead is to help others find their own voice, attain their own freedom, and make their own way.

"I'm George Bush and I approve this message... Oops, I meant the other message... oops, no wait, this message."

Buck it up guys, only 4 more years. Then 8 more years after that. Then another 8 years. You get the idea.

Compassionate conservatism and the worldwide quest for freedom reigns.

GW, Condi Rice, Cheney and Rumsfield continue to square-dance around the IRAQ MISTAKE. Swing yer padner, round-n-round ...............!!

I only saw about 5 mins of his speech, I thought the resulting applause was underwhelming.
