If you look at the pdf file again, you will notice that the jump was not just from the cams. The car not only had the cams, but it also had a full exhaust.....header, cat back, s-pipe, and cat's. You have to take that into consideration as well. It is not just a simple bolt on and you gain that much.

Comp cams & Crower (among others) also make direct bolt in cams as well. You can check out some of them here.
 
Also, with cam swaps; depending on how aggressive they are, you may also require a higher-stall torque converter, steeper rear-end gears (usually 3.55+), and of course, a computer tune...
 
Yeah, you are right, it's not just the cams, but even so, the combination package there was very impressive. The computer tune is included it looks like....
 
that stang seemed pretty impressive......i woulda liked to see that last gear push the rpm's up, but the video ends......damn. So what would it cost (ballpark of course) to do all of these things to a mark?
 
well, here is the info from the website for the Mustang, I assume it would be the same, but you'd have to call them as it is not advertised for the Mark VIII:

thats not too bad of a price. i kinda figgured that it did have that work done, but you usuially dont see a 60hp gain (or anywhere near) for just exhaust work, and comp recalibration...so i was assuming that it helped make atleast 40hp on her. im somewhat thinking that my cam lobes are starting to get eaten down to little nubs now....but if i do keep the mark(which i have come up with a plan to, horay for me) i will more than likely get this for within the year, so if anyone DOES do this, tell me how it works out...otherwise ill be the gunieapig. :L
 
I know that the stock Mark VIII RWHP is in the 200-210 range normally. On the car that I used to own I got 242 RWHP by just adding an exhaust on it. That is a gain of anywhere from 32-42 RWHP. The car was completely stock, had @120K on the odometer, and all I had done was the exhaust. I know that the Gen 1's (93-96) run lowish 15's on the quarter mile, and when I ran mine I ran 14.438 with JUST the exhaust done on it. Now, I did not run the car before the exhaust was done, but with just the exhaust (cat-back....NO headers) I dropped close to a second (depending on what my car would have run stock on the quarter mile) with JUST exhaust work done to it.

I had true duals with 2 x-pipes, which greatly improves the breathing of the engine considering the factory exhaust is extremely restrictive, and it is not a true dual exhaust. I attached a few pix of what I had on my car, along with the video of what it sounded like.
