I know of a kid who has a 97 that he smashed up in the front. He's telling me he's going to fit a Gen 1 front end on it. I think he may be a member here... not sure. I've never seen this done. I know with enough cash anything is possible but who the hell would want to spend money on that kind of modification? You fit the front clip and hood on, and the fenders don't line up, then you fit the fenders on, and the doors don't line up, what is he talking about??

I believe this has been discussed before, and the general consensus was that it wouldn't work. Try searching some threads though to be sure.

It will fit just fine. He will need both fenders, hood, header panel, core support, bumper and lower valance, headlights and grille, maybe few more misc parts.

I have pictures of a 1st gen car with a 2nd gen front end but my hosting is down.

FYI, door shells are exactly the same between 1st and 2nd gens.

Sean,

The front end sheetmetal is a bolt on ! The only problem might be the Fuel Intake System clearing the hood !

Good Luck,
Sonny

1/2" shim on the k-member and little massaging to the hood underlayment will take care of any issues with the Tb inlet tube. There are no issues with the fuel system, why would there be ?

The first gen hood is fiberglass, and the bottom half is the structure for the upper half. He'd need a cowl, or at least some fb work done.

I've seen that pic too. It looks like dog ass but a HID and LSC bumper equipped Gen 1 front on a gen 2 would look good, IMO.

I'd go with gen 1 mirrors, too. The gen 2's would clash with the gen 1 headlamps.
