Hi,

First off I'm driving a 1996 Mark VIII Se. Now I'm getting error #p0125, which reads "Insufficient Coolant Temp to Enter Closed Loop Fuel Control". I'm told this is due to a bad o2 sensor. I'm having some other problems too that may or may not be related, I'll just list them all :

1. There has been a pully near the engine belt that has been screeching out of control...when oil is applied the screeching goes away. Sometimes it doesnt screech at all and will often stop after 15 miles of driving.

2. around the belt itself, coolant has began to slowly leak...and the belt sends it flying everywhere so its hard to tell where the leak is actually from. This leak does not happen all the time though, just sometimes.

3. During acceleration there is a clicking under the hood that goes with the speed of the accelartion

4. Because of my leak i've been filling up the coolant resevoir with water each morning. I forgot to put the coolant cap back on and drove the car. It overheated after 5 miles.

5. After my first overheat, i drove the car back home. There was no check engine light. I attempted to drive again and it got hot 5 miles down the road and this is when the p0125 light came on. The light is on now and it isn't going away.

So can anyone help me out based on what I've said? What can I do to fix these irritating problems. Should I drive a car that has the p0125 error at all? I need to get it home. Thanks for your help.

On a side note....someone stuffed a rag in my exhaust pipe last night. Is that supposed to do some damage or what? They only put a rag in one pipe, and I saw it before starting the car.

first of all, damn...
secondly, damn...

but on a more serious note, damn...

prolly the seal on the bearing in the w/p is leaking, which is causing the belt to throw fluid.

the code is prolly a coolant temp sensor in the crossover tube.

gl. cooling system on this car is a bieotch.

first, you should replace your water pump, and while you are at it replace the tensioner pulley and belt as well. About $70 from your local parts store. Note you will need to refill with coolant that you can also get at same store premixed at 50-50. Be careful when you put the belt on to besure you get it in the correct grooves and not crossed over one as it will eat you belt in a minute and you will need to get a new one. Disconnect your battery whilst doing this to also wipe out the stored code. If code reappears stop and let the store read it for you. Be sure you follw proper prcedures refilling your coolant system.

oh yeah, i forgot about this thread.

i replaced the water pump and tensioner belt and its running great with no problems.

man that water pump had rusted so much it practically welded itself to the engine. i used sooooo much stuff to try and pry it loose. it took forever but i finally was able to pound it off with a sledge hammer, after soaking it in battery cleaner and letting it sit for a couple hours.

what sucks is that someone smacked my door/windshield/fender at 70 MPH the very next day. good thing the mark is heavy lol. this kids 88 escort bounced off me, through a pole, into a car, through a fence and upside down in a ditch. my car didnt even budge from its lane. did i mention he was passing on a 2X yellow? =D no insurance to boot! YAY!

Ill be driving around lookin rugged for awhile

later,
