I just changed out my stock radio to a black kenwood because trying to get an aux for the stock was ridiculous. But the radio is black and I want to change the vent on top to black. I found some on eBay but they say 00-02. Could I still use them in my 04?

Ok cool. I'm just think something might different wire wise from Gen 1 from Gen 2. It's the vent that has the buttons.

so did you not use the correct dash kit made in silver for your car?

cause I'm not gonna lie, black plastic here and silver plastic there just looks kinda tacky, just like when somebody wrecks their car and uses the wrong generations parts to fix it resulting in a mismatched car that looks like it was wrecked and repaired poorly.

The Gen 2 I got fogs from had Gen 1 headlights.. it looked so sad. The gap between the lights and bumper looked like tired bags under it's eyes

No I haven't done anything yet? I'm might just start with the silver but just order a new one because the silver is starting to scrap off. now that I think about it the back radio doesn't look bad with the silver dash kit.

That would certainly be the better way to go.

Jesus: can u post a pic of the installed radio? I'm thinking of doing an aftermarket head for the same reason / aux port. Curious what your install looks like.

Okay, here's a picture of a double-din install with the correct color surround.

Always wondered why people are so scared to try some rattle can paint match, yes I understand it's never going to be a perfect match but for what it's worth.

i did, back in the sad days of only black kits...

took a few cans to get it close enough, but still looks off a little in direct sunlight.

Always will unless you blend or do all parts in one go, never really the best solution but an option.
Could even take it all off and wrap it.

has been something I've wanted to do, but not really wanting to try the climate controls. probably wouldn't be that hard if all the little lenses for LEDs come out, but with the way anything else is with this car. i dont think i can get that lucky.

I've been painting my wood and flat black parts gloss black. I don't remember the lenses being removable. The display didn't look inviting either. I didn't pop the rocker buttons out, just taped them up and taped the display cover. The push buttons fall out. I painted the face, then scraped the paint off the led lenses. It's not hard to investigate it for yourself if you have small Torx bits (gold screws smaller than the black Torx screws you encounter first)
