i have p0304 code keep coming up - can i put cylinder 4 coil pack on like cylinder 3 and reset codes and see if p0303 comes up to determine if it actually is the coil pack?

thanks...

You could but is would just set a code for the number cylinger you swaped. I would just check that cylinder first for fluid. If you find some you can assume it's bad, or have it tested while it's off.

im thinking just to use it as a troubleshooting tool...

isnt 4 the passenger side very back (towards the cabin)?.. i honestly cant see down in there. the coil boot didnt look very bad.

i have a warranty on the car - the dealership said they only replace oils that are bad when i kinda want them all changed .. anyways -

i want to know if its the cylinder or the coil... i figured swapping them out.. and if only the new cylinder code pops up.. then just the coil.. if not then theres something still wrong with the cylinder..

i pay $100 total.. (deductable)... i was reading threw some TSB and its going in for coils, rear window regulator, both headlights with fog.. i figure $100 for that stuff is pretty good.. but i dont have 1/2 a$$ed job on the car either.. if the cylinder is leaking oil - i want it fixed and not just a new coil pack.

ok thanks...

Yes, cylinder #4 is the cylinder closest to the firewall on the pasenger side. Yes, you can swap the misfiring cylinder's COP with one from another cylinder; if the COP's bad, the error should follow it.

You'll definitely want to check the plug wells for oil, but the only way to really check is visual inspection. For those cylinders you can't see directly, you can stick a long cotton swab (like the kind the doctor uses to check for strep throat) down in the well. There shouldn't be any oil in there, so if it comes out with oil, you know the valve cover seals need to be replaced. It's possible that it's just a bad coil (that does happen), but the normal cause is damage from oil contamination, so I'd definitely be pulling COPs and checking for oil...

well i think it may just be the COP.. because i actually changed the spark plug and it didn't look too bad.. infect cylinder #1 looked worse - your saying its bad to have ANY oil in there.. because cylinder #1 had a little bit... i did tighten the 2 bolts holding that together wasn't sure if that was a prob or not.. plus I cleaned out the COP well of the oil so the dealership probably wont see the oil in there.

If I tell them it is leaking and they don't see it, so they don't fix it and then it comes back later when I check - does the deductable have to be paid again?

I'm calling the dealership tommorow to make an appointment for misfiring.

any tips i should say..
