hey guys, got a question that i think i know the answer to but i wanted to check with you guys first. i guess the cold weather may have something to do with this but maybe not, my car has recently starting idleing a little rough. when i start the car it runs fine for about 2min until it warms up then starts to stall then surge stall then surge and eventually stalls out. this only happens when i first start the car, once i start driving around its fine. i guess the timing needs to be advanced which i was planning on doing anyway but i want to see if you guys had any further input.

could be the IAC, I also found out a while back the pcv goes bad (also affecting the IAC) because there is a wire filter under it that no one changes (probably because its a pain to get to) which can sometimes be the actual problem but other things result from it. Its been a while since I looked under the hood of my 7 but I wouldn't advance the timing, that's just getting around the problem (if it works at all).

Check for codes first. Could be anything from O2 sensors acting up, bad ECT sensor, bad ACT sensor, IAC needs to be cleaned, etc.

When was the last time you let the tank run empty and then added a bottle of Seafoam or DryGas or WaterRemover to the tank?

$2.99 a can tops.

Right click the linked word and then selecting COPY SHORTCUT
Right click the address bar in your browser and then select PASTE
hit ENTER

The direct URL to the article is http://www.lincolnsonline.com/article17.html and it's one of those things that I've said I'm going to do a dozen times but never really get around to doing.

Then I come here and read (for like the 100th time) that someone, somewhere, has cleaned thier Idle Control Valve and now they're getting like a bajillion more miles per gallon, thier hair has turned from grey to black, and they've hit the lottery and are moving to Denmark.

Actually, everone who has done it has written that it's a really good thing to do.
