Car tires.. I know

Whats up everyone

I did do a search. But couldnt quite find the answer I liked. So here we go.


Need tires on the LS Here is what I'm looking at

First is first. Should They be

245/45/17's OR 255/45/17's

I do NOT want something that looks beefy.. I want a tire that looks good and aswell performs and lasts awhile. Currently have :q:q:q:qty ass continental Contact Sports.

Tire Options:

Falcon ZE-912

OR Kuhmo Escata's

Other opinions welcome

Also still trying to fix these damn brakes. Squealing like a pig when I stop.. And pissing me off. Pressure washed the car yesterday. After I did that, they didnt make a sound... Now its back again..

I put the grease on the pad itsself.. I dont know what to grease.
 
255's I ran them on all 3 of my LS's w/o any issues. The 255 fills out the wheel well much better.
 
I would love to get 18"s with nice rims. But at this time that is not going to happen. money is tight.. Need to fix other things on the car..

Coils are going to be replaced after the tires. Car feels like it has no power at all =(

Also opinions on tires? My current tires shake like mad. Not comfortable.

Any noticeable difference in MPG?
 
I just put a set of BFG g-force Super Sport A/S's, in the 245/45/17 size, and couldnt be happier. Wet or dry, so far they stick
 
Could you get a picture so I can see how they look ;).

I'm opted to spend ~100 - 150 per tire. Been looking at discount tire here in Central Florida.

I've had my eyes on the Falcon ZE-912's for awhile. I like the aggressive tread pattern, decent reviews.
 
Those Falkens get good ratings, I am seriously considering purchasing those in a few weeks. As long as you don't use them in snow you should be good, snow traction from what I have read is terrible.

I've read alot of good reviews upon the falkens, and some people dont like them.. Hopefully I will get good tread life.


So im feelin 245/45/17's?

Anyone have pictures of that size tire on their car... Or even 255/40/17

Also These damn breaks still squeal like a pig... I put grease on the pad its self, I dont know what to grease.
 
OMG the pad?

CRC has this stuff in a little red bottle that goes on the back of the pad.

They might squeak for a bit of time yet if they are brand new.
 
After reading, The white grease is not suppose to go on the pad itsself...

The pads and rotors are about 2 weeks old now. I drive ~50 miles round trip to work each day. When I get time i will use break cleaner.

Anyways other opinions? Going to get these tires within the week... I'll post a review ;)

I have a set of Falkens on my Mustang and they were great in the snow.
 
The Flakens that were on my stock 17s sucked major donkey dick in the snow....and I blew a hole in two tires from potholes. Blah.


Now, back the to the squeaking...please tell me you're kidding when you said you put grease on the face of the pad that contacts the rotor!!

lmao, exactly what I was thinking. Logic didn't hit the OP on this one. :D

As for the tires, I've got the Falken ZE-512's and couldn't be happier. Nice tread design, good grip, good wet condition tires, not too bad in the snow, either. They don't have a super stiff sidewall, but will handle better than the bald tires you may have on your car now. I know they're better than what came on my LS when I bought it. I think I found them for ~$93 each last year online.

CRC has stuff also. Its a spray I just remembered.

I just cant believe he said he put it on the pad. Not to sound like we are making fun of you but thats gotta go down in the books.
 
It's not as bad as the pictures I've seen (that I can't fnid now) of someone posting pictures of painting their calipers AND rotors. Or the guys that wanted to port their intake and heads by pouring sand into the intake. lol
 
I have the Falken 912s on now and they're great. Snow shine and everything in between. I even took a pretty good turn going 40 in the rain the other day.. they impressed me.
 
Both Falkens and Toyos are great. The day I got my Toyo proxes T1R's on my old wheels it started pooring out like you would never believe. I said the hell with it and lets see what these things can do. I hit up some of the back roads and was flying. They felt so tight and solid to the ground, I just couldnt get them to give at all. It felt like the road was not even wet.
 
Thanks for the input upon the tires. I will be sure to make a review or something.


As for the pads.... Yes I am an idiot. Put it on the face of the pad that makes contact with the rotor. I did not see where else to put the grease. Never done brakes before.


Maybe someone can point me in the right direction. However, I did see the brake cleaner spray that is "quiet brakes" Should brake cleaner on the rotor, and then wipe it dry help my situation?
