Ok, I did search but found nothing. I would like to replace my light gray carpeting with dark gray. Basically the same color as the darker trim in the interior. I cannot find any replacement carpet anywhere. I'd prefer a factory molded piece. I even looked at fordpartsonline and cannot find anything for the LS. Anyone know anything about this?

dye it yourself...Alot of carpeting places will actually dye the carpet what ever color you like and i have seen the finished product and it does look good.

Detail king have dyes that would do the job perfectly. (especially if you just want a darker grey) I have used their stuff with good results.

I'm ok with dyeing it but I couldn't find anything that said it would be good for changing colors. They all stated they were for recoloring the same color. Any links?

I just dye'd my car from light grey to medium grey. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! It looks amazing now. These pics dont do it justice. Before and After:

Ray,

The carpet looks great! What did you use?

Thanks Ken, these pics do no justice for how good the carpets look in person. The pic I took was right after this dye was applied so it still looks spotty due to it still being pretty wet, but now it is dry, it looks so good!! This is definitely a mod that is well worth the $20 and time to rub it all in. I used a carpet dye from rightlook.com

I didnt want to go too dark so I went with the medium grey. Its not as dark as I wanted so Im ordering 2 more bottles of dark grey today to darken it even more.

Looks good! Gonna do the bottoms of the doors too?

Thanks, I will do the bottom os the doors as well, the websites say that one bottle is enought to redo a whole car. Its really not. I recommend that after finding the color you want to go with get 2 bottles for all carpeting and lower doors. Just apply the dye with a 32oz spray bottle (4oz dye 28oz warm water) rub it in with a nylon bristle brush and thhen wipe off the excess from any panels and you have a new looking carpet.

pk i thought i would just add this to this thread,, I have not been able to find true LSE floor mats and have decided to dye the old ones, they are faded from wear but overall very good condition ... i found this paint that works on carpet and goes on like paint does.. so far it looks great, i did the back mats first and will have before and after pics. alot easier than all that mixing and rubbing..

ok here are the pics.... notice how black the rears are compared to fronts.. then i did fronts and they came out just as dark looks real nice and easy to do... the place i got this from said to use a comb after spraying to move the fibers around so the spray can get all the angles.. used about 5 coats each and 1 can was enough with little to spare

I have the darker gray carpet for sale if anyone wanted to pick it up.

Thanks for all the info. I have been thinking about dying the carpet in my LS for a while now. Med brown looks about right. I need a darker color, that light beige color is just to hard to keep spotless.
