I'm looking for some help i have a 2000 LS and my cat was gone on one side so what would be the best way to fix this, because the new one's are very expensive.

I took off the exaust completely so i'll be able to replace them.

Thanks

how many miles on the car? cats should still be under warranty if under 80K

catelics converters

A catelic is a catelic or is there anything special with the ford ones, ?

Thanks

i don't think there is a major difference. if this is a cash job, not warranty, i'd say go with an aftermarket one as they are usually cheaper. if it's free, obviously the dealer will install a ford one. try to talk them into replacing both instead of just one.

only one way - new one.

or a used one from a wrecker....

Keep in mind it's illegal for a wrecking yard to sell you used converters. But some still will....

Good luck finding one. I had to have mine replaced a while ago and the only aftermarket one I could find cost more than the dealer! The guy even told me to get it the catalytic converter at the dealer. I asked Magnaflow about a high-flow cat. Their flow engineer told me most factory cats were high flow now and I wouldn't see any improvement.

BTW, Bill Jenkins has them for ~$370 for the V8 and ~$325 for the V6.

Given the general spelling and grammer around here, I just thought this was some special Celtic catalytic converter.......
