Here in Texas I'm seeing all the cops with stubby antenna's. I've wanted a radio tucked away under the glove box or somewhere in my car for when I travel, but haven't wanted the inconvenience of the antenna.

Who offers these stubby antennas? They're about 1.5" tall, maybe 1" round.

Would it work to put two in the corners of the rear deck, behind the tint .. or would a guy need some sort of amp?

I know it's illegal to have too strong of signal or w/e but I really don't care.

the short stubby ant you see is a vhf radio putting out 100 watts of power if you put something like that for a regular cb you will probibly only be able to talk to someone in your back seat  just get a magnetic antenna to put on when you need it ...... chris

they are probally using a trunking type system. I would get a wilson 1000 magnet mount for the trunk!

I concur. Those stubbies are VHF - different frequency than CB's. Stubbies won't work with a CB. A magnet mount is a good suggestion, or you can go with a lip mount, which has a set screw that secures to the underside of the trunk lid. Of course, if you wanted full time, you could always drill a hole and use a permanent mount, but then you've got a hole. You car, your choice...just no stubby.

or you can become a hamradio operator wich will allow you to have a hi power radio with the capability of geting cb channels too

the truck stops sell a "cell phone" style antenna for CB radios. They look just like the early 90's car phone antennas that stick to the glass.

Ok man, heres what you do. Go to a big truck stop and find yourself a lip mount antenna and try to get as close to 5000 watts as possible. Then get yourself a good radio(a must!!). A Cobra brand($80) will work perfect. Find the CB shop at the truckstop and tell them you want your radio amped up($20-30). Your reception of the antenna won't be strong without a strong signaled radio pushing it. Trust me, i'm a truck driver by day and night. Mine will reach about 6-10 miles out. A buddy of mine has a pricier radio and he has reached as far as 26 miles!! Well worth spending $150 if you're runnin' fast!

Lol I've been tooling with the idea of getting one but don't want an external antenna! If it's laid horizontal in the trunk by the package trey it prob won't do any good huh?

..I do run fast, all the time .. when traveling. Like 80-100 and I let off for passing. I think one would pay off.

at that speed you would barley keep anyone in range. by the time you are in range to talk to them you will pass them in a matter of a minute or two. Plus the larger the antenna the more range you have. It looks like a CB is not for you...

i miss my RCI 2950
i say the hell with it and mount a 102 to the side of the car yeeeee hawwww....................hey wait i had one lol
