I've got a 2005 LS and am trying to find where the CD changer is located. Any ideas?

Thank you :)

You should read the manual. If you have the CD changer it is in the dash. If you have NAV it is behind the screen, if you don't it is a single slot load changer. If you have a tape deck, you don't have a changer.

RTFM...

CD changers only came in two locations in the LS, inside the glove box and inside the radio.

I didn't think that in the glove box was an option for gen II?

Of course, we are assuming that he doesn't have aftermarket. I wonder what the Bluetooth question was going to be...

Yeah, sorry.

Honestly, I'm brand new here and new to cars in general. My 05 LS is my first car.

I work at sea, and have wanted an LS for a while. They're not common where I live, and one popped up while I was away. Anyway, I had some family check out and pick it up for me while I was gone. The ad said it was loaded, and listed every possible option. When I got home, I soon realized that almost NONE of those options were included...

Among many other things, the seller said the car had a cd-changer and bluetooth. I was going to ask about the bluetooth as well, but figured it wasn't important.

I guess that's the price I pay for not picking the car up personally. I'm very satisfied with the car tho! sorry if this it tldr material hahaha.

Bluetooth was only available as a dealer add option, and it would be very very rare to have it. Honestly, your best bet (if you want these things) would be to add an aftermarket headunit with Bluetooth and iPod or USB input (who uses CDs now?). You can make some of the double din touchscreen models look pretty close to factory.

Factory double DIN is pretty old tech now (8 years minimum). My 2004 factory dash was replaced with a nice Alpine double DIN DVD unit in 2006.

I have yet to replace the 2006 factory NAV unit I picked up this year but will have to do so soon since the CD changer stopped working and the NAV seems archaic compared to even my cell phone.

If you are interested, I have the working CD changer from my 06 THX nav that I replaced. (Yes, the CD changer is separately replaceable on the headunit.)

Interested. I have not pulled the dash yet to see that the CD changer is separate from the headunit. That might be a temporary option since I'm not quite prepared financially to replace the head unit, speakers, and amp (although I want to). I need to replace the OEM tires on my LS before new year. I'm also not quite your savvy in modifying the wiring harness to use the factory amp and speakers. I have seen your write-up but did not study it yet.

Is there any pairing that needs to happen with the head unit and CD changer or is it simply plug and play?

It's just plug and play. When you pull the unit out, you will see that there are two metal boxes bolted to each other. Unbolt them and unplug some (can't remember, but I think it is two) cables internally from the bottom box.

You might take a look inside your changer first to see if it is something simple. Mine failed once and it was simple to fix. There is a flat-flex cable in there that had pulled loose. It pulled loose because they had excess glue on the ID label on the cable. This caused it to stick to a moving part of the changer, and this pulled the cable out of one of it's connectors when the moving part moved.

Thanks for the tip. I need to pull it out and see what is going on back there. I've been noticing problems with the motorized screen as well. It will open on its own and not go back into place until I restart the car. I've also seen the display flash and black out when going over bumps. Sounds like something is loose. I hope it is that simple.

I was tire shopping today and that is frustrating :(

SeaPro - As mentioned, Blue Tooth was a dealer install option. If you have the OEM entertainment or navigation system, the BT system Lincoln dealers installed is called mobile-ease (I have one of those in my 2005). I found a copy of the manual I have on-line. Look at page 3, you should have a control pad shown in the picture somewhere on your dash or center console, unless the previous owner installed a different audio system with built-in BT. You can look up user manuals for your car on-line and determine what audio system you have, or look up the manual for your radio based on its name and model. Below is the link to the mobile-ease manual
