The check engine light came on in my car last night while driving home. I went to the auto parts store today and it threw P0161. Looks like this is the oxygen sensor (bank 2 sensor 2).

A little background info:
-1997
-52,000 miles
-Replaced blend door arm last weekend
-Also put a winter charge on the battery and cleaned terminals last weekend
-I noticed a critter attempted to build a nest in the engine compartment. I cleaned it out and did not notice any damaged wiring.

Not sure if anything I did over the weekend is related to the CEL.

Is this most likely the sensor itself or are there other things I should check first. If it is the sensor should I only replace the faulty sensor (downstream driver's side) or do I need to do it in pairs? Do you guys suggest the Motorcraft DY1086 or the NTK 22500?

Any help is much appreciated and this forum has already been incredibly helpful through previous posts.

Thanks!

heater circuit failure, bank 2 sensor 2.
so there is a circuit problem, either in the wiring, or in the sensor itself.
look for damaged wiring under the car and near the nest, if you see none, a new sensor may be in order.
i recommended motorcraft.
