Center console

if im correct all the consoles are a dirrect swap. i think lenndawg has done this to his ls. ive been wanting to do it to mine for months now the cupholders in the 00 are so cheap looking

Wasnt there a few people asking about the armrest hinge ? That auction for the entire console looks like a good cheap way to get your hinge and some extra stuff too. Just a thought.

Not all are a direct swap, but from what I understand, all of the '00-'02 center consoles are direct swaps for each other, and the '03-'06 consoles are direct swaps from each other. You could swap a pre-'03 console for an '03 or newer console, but there will be work involved--in '03, the handbrake was replaced by the e-brake, so the consoles are cut differently. Additionally, the profile on the '03 and newer console is different thanks to a different console compartment.

The one pictured is a pre-'03 console, so if it's true that the '00-'02 consoles are interchangeable, you should be good to go with your '00.

correct.

it is a popular 'upgrade' to swap a 01 console into a 00.

Thanks guys, hopefully I'll win the auction for that console. I'm new here so I guess I should introduce myself. In August I decided to replace my 1994 Accord with a good, solid road car. I am a college student in North Carolina and I drive whenever I go back home to Kentucky and the Accord just wasn't cutting it going over the hills through West Virginia. I looked at mid-90s Audis and BMWs but decided the the LS was by far the best car for me in value and quality. I bought a 2000 LS in the marroon with a V8 and 42,000 miles for just under 13k. I've put about 5,000 miles on it since I bought it and love it. Besides adding an 01 console, i've also thought about putting in one of the later model in dash navigation systems. I saw an earlier thread that said the harness for that alone would be $800. Does anyone know of a less expensive way to install one of these systems, short of recovering one from a junk yard?

A question about a strange noise I've heard ever since I bought the car. When I have my foot on the accelerator between 50-55 miles an hour, I hear a distinct humming noise coming from the back of the car. It only happens if I am accelerating at these speeds (not if im just coasting) and at no other speeds. Any ideas?

hello and welcome. as far as the navigtion goes. i would personally go with the kenwood unit. the factory unit u wont be able to watch dvds.

If you don't have the Nav system, go aftermarket. If you're going to go to the trouble and expense of retrofitting the factory system, you might as well go aftermarket; it'll probably cost less and it's less likely to cause problems down the road--that $800 figure comes from replacing a wiring harness, which is an invitation to trouble. With an aftermarket setup, you should be able to get the adapters to plug the new system directly into the existing harness.

Of course, if you just want to add Nav capabilites, you can get a decent GPS-based Nav unit for less than $600. It won't be in-dash, but it'll get the job done. The Garmin StreetPilot C330 comes highly recommended, and it can be found at prices in the low $500s.

Sounds like the 50mph drone. There is a TSB for this which entails replacing the half-shafts.

As to the factory nav. It would probably be much less expensive to just buy an LS with it already installed. You would need:
wiring harness
nav head unit
gps antenna
dvd-rom player
possibly other accessories to make it work.
Try Garmin, Lowrance, Magellin or that new Tom Tom. These options are waaaaaaay more cost effective.

hi arbo, I see that you did buy this console on ebay. looks like a good catch, wish I had seen it. i was wondering if you now had an extra hinge you would be willing to part with? I am looking for a hinge for the armrest/compartment. I have a 2000 also.
i'll try to PM you.

What color problems did you have? I just realized that i need the console for the tan interior, but the one i bought is for the gray interior, so I'm trying to figure out if I should sell the gray console and buy a different one, or if the grey will look fine with the tan interior. Let me know if this was your problem with the color.

PM me. Maybe we can swap the tan for the gray. I'm a stickler for congruency so color is an issue with me. Aside from that, I sure would like to drive to work for once and be able to actually place my coffee mug in a holder and not worry about it spilling.

I was actually considering buying the grey one but it has a black armrest, mine is also grey.

i bought a tan one that was a little different shade of tan than mine... but i matched it up n painted it as close as i could... the armrest part shouldnt be a big deal cause you can just unscrew the new one and put your old one back on if youd like...
