at the risk of sounding like a complete noob, where the heck is the oil filter in this car?? its a 1995 lincoln continental. also how hard is it to get to? and any suggestions on what kind of oil to use? all i have ever used was dino oil.

I know on my 94, its hidden up kinda behind the subframe, if you're under the car. You have a completely different engine, but i'd imagine its around the same palce(front of engine, towards the passenger side).

nah the owners manual didnt show me squat, that was the first place i looked after i couldnt find it, i havnt had the car up on ramps though

I have a 1997 and it is up under the front air dam flap, which someone sliced to get at the filter and right of middle a bit.

I recommend using nothing but either Mobil 1 or Amsoil - they are the two best commercial synthetics. I get an extra 1mpg using synthetic engine oil and another 2 mpg better when using Mobil 1 ATF. I change my engine oil at least twice a year or if it gets dirty or every 7500 miles. I only change the oil filter every second time.

I change tranny oil every 36,000 miles - only replacing what comes out of the pan - not the torque converter. That is about 7-8 liters.

I use Mobil 1 ATF in the power steering, too. I had a power steering oil leak that made my pump whine. I changed the oil by pumping it out and filling it back up with Mobil 1 ATF. The pump stopped making the noise, and I eventually fixed the leak.
