I was wondering what gains id see if i just removed the 3rd cat and resonator put a pipe in its place remove the 2 old mufflers and put a pair of flowmaster 50 series with new tips. Wouldent this be alot cheaper then doing the 2 in 2 out magna flow, with that dont u have to put new piping and be really good at welding or paying alot for it to be done. What gains do u think id see fom doing the exhaust like I said, I know it prob sound really good and id definetly see gains of hp and better gas mileage just from removing the 3rd cat and resonator. All it will cost me is a pipe to replace the gap were the cat and resonator was and 2 50 series mufflers the welding would be simple enough for me. What u think....

One more thing what u think sounds the best for are marks 30,40,50 or super 40. I know its all preferences everyone likes there own sound of exhaust note but what do u guys think sounds the best from what u heard compared to others. I cant really explain what I want my car to sound like but Id appreciate your opinions on the best sounding and ill gladly go magna flow if its the better product but keep in mind it be a one in one out as long as i do the exhaust as i want to. Thanks again...

Here is a cheaper way of doing what you are talking about.

Knock out the 3rd cat - Place a 2 in 2 out Magnaflow with built in X pipe and run 2.5" pipes from there. Cost will be about $300. Then find a nice set of tips.

You will have some gains but I doubt it will be noticeable. You will like the sound and at hwy speeds you will not have a loud rumble in the car. But if you step it down you will let everyone know that you have a V-8 under the hood.

You will see your gains from what I've learned by improving your air intake, exhaust, and then Chip!

My opinion.

I didn't cut my 3rd cat and went with a 1 in 2 out and then ran pipes to the rear. Like the system very much. Would like it more with the 2 in 2 out. Too late now.

I would put money on it that if you go with the Flowmaster you want them off after the first month. They are loud. Nice sound for a Mustang but not a Mark VIII (my opinion). The magnaflows have a very very nice growl I am sure you will like the Magnaflows. I'm not the only one on here using them!!

so what your saying is go 2 in 2 out isent it true that magnaflows can be turned around for making it 2.25 in 2.5 out. Also the whole thing only cost me 300 thats not bad, thanks ill think about it. I agree with the flowmasters i dont want it to loud but will the magnaflows be kinda loud like at idle how is it is and is it like decently noticeable and when u punch it it gets loud cause thats all I really want just a nice idle and aggresive when u punch it. Whats the life exspectent of the magnas and will it increase my miles per gal because thats y i leaned toward the flowmasters at first.

Heres a pic and exhaust clip of my system. Its a Magnaflow D/D muffler with 2.5" pipes all the way back, ran me about 300 including the muffler. I knew the guy that did my exhaust, so that helped out the price a little bit.

Couldnt find the exhaust clip, but there are more clips of what my car sounds like inside and the exhaust clip is somewhere in there.http://media.putfile.com/MarkVIII28
