What could cause this light and message to come on? I was driving as I normally do and the beep sounded along with the message. Any ideas? :feedback

Something might be wrong with your advance track system. Sorry. Couldnt resist! Actually you might want to do a search on this. I seem to remember this coming up before.

This happened to me once, check advancetrack message was on and I could't turn the advance track back on. I turned the car off then back on and every thing was fine and it hasn't happened since.

I had that problem in my 03, took it back to the dealer and they had to update the cars computer, apparently some error they knew about. Mine was nothing major but not making any promises......

error

I tried resetting it and no matter how many times I do, the error still appears. Guess I have to take it to the dealer. I wonder if it's going to take them 3 days to figure this problem out.

02 Lincoln LS V8 "Check Advancetrac"

I have an 02 Lincoln LS V8 and my Check Advancetrac kept coming on. I took it to the dealership and they updated the PCM. After they did this, it still kept coming on. My car had 23K miles on it and was still under factory warranty. I took it back in and they told me it was the computer module that controls both the traction control system along with the anti lock brakes. It was replaced under the warranty but the slip showed a cost of 1500 dollars for the new computer. You might want to take it to a dealership to get it checked out!

A somewhat common issue is faulty wheel sensors for the AdvanceTrac system. I know several 2003+ owners have complained about this. I would suggest to the dealer that they take a look at the wheel sensors.

So my '00 decided to display the ol' "Check Advancetrac" message the other day. I hit the reset button and the message went away, but the light on the dash remained on. It comes and goes now; sometimes it clears when I shut the car off and restart it; other times it doesn't... but it's not a constant thing.

Then, I was parking the car in the lot next to my post office and I happened to brake on a small patch of ice. The front wheels locked up. I thought, "Hmmm, that's not supposed to happen." So my guess is, that I have an ABS sensor going bad; hence screwing up the Advancetrac. Sound about right?
