Check Charging system? Alternator?

Ok.. im driving the mark and the abs light comes on and it says check traction control.... they both go away i drive another day or so... they come back on, now this time about a minute later, the airconditioner cuts out along with the clock/ info screen and it says check charging system now when it cranks over.. runs for about 3 mins fine than everything shuts down again Now i assume this is the alternator as i just bought a new battery less than 14 days ago... If this is the case, what is a good alternator to get with warrantie and price weighed out, also i guess i will need it shipped as autozone has none in stock... Im in the doylestown PA area (20 mins from philly) THanks a ton guys...

It is the alternater, the exact thing happened to me last month.
 
go for the motorcraft heavy duty alternator, i had similair stuff happen to me recently. I brought it into the shop and they told me that the original alternator is some p.o.s. mitsubishi make. i dont know if it was replaced with it at one point being im the second owner, or thats what lincoln put in them. I was surprised, but it could be the same deal with yours. Make sure you get a good alternator though, i went through three until i got a good one, and they were all motorcraft. I realized there was something wrong with mine because it was louder than usual and sounded almost like a separate weaker engine reving along with my own. Also when i hit about 4 grand under slightly heaving accel the battery light would flash. I would say drive to philly and get it done, my guy did it for a little over 200 i think.
 
the mitsubishi alternator is the factory part that was in the 93-95 marks! 96-98 marks switched to fords alts
 
I wish I were closer to you. I can get ahold of the regulator/Brush assy, for around 30 bucks. Thats is what goes wrong with these things 97.89432% of the time.


I just rebuilt my alternator on my 95, and that was the only thing wrong with it. Normally, on higher mileage units, the brushes wear out and just stop making contact with the mainshaft. But you can't get just the brushes for it, you have to get the reg with them.


30 bucks is better than 150-200 anyday.
