Saturday I was changing the air filter and checking all my fluids. I unplugged the air flow temp. sensor and forgot to plug it back in. Sunday I started the car and the CEL was on. I knew immediately what it was. I poped the hood and plugged it back in... the car immediately died. Started it back up without any problem and it has run fine since. But the CEL is still on. Did I damage the sensor by plugging it back in with the car running or will the light evenually go out?

thanks for any advise

not a good idea plugging it in with car on but yes it should go out after a number of cycles

You can also disconnect the battery for 15 minutes or so. That will reset the code. I did the same thing a few years ago.....

yeah I know I should have turned it off first but that is what rash thinking and running late will get you.... more headaches. Thanks for the info though.

The sensor should be fine, the cel should go out with a few restarts, or you can disconnect the battery.
