Are those sparks supposed to be a feature ?

yep lay the frame on the ground and drag it

They actually have tips they attach to the car to make the sparks.

Those arent tips, what they do sometimes is add drag blocks made of diffrent metals to change the color of the spark. But very often its just the frame sparking on the pavement.

drag blocks are fun! man that was a LONG time ago....
