I was reading the ol' Fox News.com and they had a article about, i don't remember the details, nor have the link, but it was talking about sending production of GM to China, and selling them to us. I may have misread this, hopefully, has any one heard anything about this?

Yes I heard about this on the radio this morning.I think GM is putting another nail in their own coffin.Take the tax payers money and send it to china WTF!!!!

SHANGHAI, May 13 (Reuters) - General Motors Corp plans to export vehicles made at its joint ventures in China to the United States in the coming years, the official Shanghai Securities News reported on Wednesday.

GM aims to ship about 50,000 China-made vehicles to the United States annually in 2014, the report said, without identifying the source of the information.
Importing little MPG boxes.
The UWA is complaining in Calabrio"s link that GM will be outsourcing jobs by doing this.
GM will neither confirm nor deny these reports coming from the Chinese media.

They wouldn't be the first auto maker to import.
Hell the Fusion Hybrid is mexican made.
The U.S. car maker is a thing of the past.

How and why is it possable to ship materials over the oceans and then back as a finished product cheaper than doing the whole job here? and what can we do about?

Briggs & Straaton ships it ALL overseas has it assembled then shipped ALL the way back, makes no sense to me either.

I doubt GM will be shipping anything to china, maybe badges to stick on the ecno-boxes that will be imported, if they are import anything at all from China.

Labor costs in the US are higher here then in China.
Manufacturing has been outsourced to China for a number of years for this very reason.

To keep Manufacturing in the US companys have to learn to take out the labor with technology, work smarter.

The only way to beat cheap labor is no labor.
This can be done but takes investment in robots auto loaders to have lights out production.

By "lights out" I mean machining were the machines do the labor with very little manpower.

Ror @ chinese chevy. the heartbeat of America now resides in Shanghai.
