So why is it that Christianity teaches that if you kill yourself, you don't get to go to heaven, but, Islam teaches you TO kill yourself, and not only do you go to heaven with a hero's parade, but you also get a bevy of virgins to boot?

I hate to be Mr. Correct-a-lot here, but actually neither the Bible nor Christianity teach that suicide is an unpardonable sin.

That's a common misconception portrayed in the movie "What Dreams May Come" with Robin Williams.

However:

In the New Testament Christians are urged to love and pray for their enemies, whereas Islam teaches that Muslims are to strike off the heads of their enemies. That's enough of a distinction for me.

Don't forget that Christianity per se (as defined by the Bible) isn't nearly the same as Catholicism. There's a large chasm of belief systems.
