Ok, in the next couple weeks I'm getting my entire car re-painted including the chrome modling around the car and the chrome grille to match the body color. My question is what can i use to take off the fake chrome around the molding and grille so i can make sure the paint will stick because they don't think it will for a long time.

thanks,
scott

the chrome like material is a mylar type product, if its all tight , leave it alone & lightly sand it w/ 200, if its loose anywhere get a razor put it between the paint & mylar and cut it all the way, peel it off and lightly sand

yeah, i think im going to do this on my 95 Conti sometime this summer. Im going all chrome mouldings including around the door windows. If you want to do a writeup or how to........it would be greatly appreciated.

I painted my grill and used a scotchbright pad for body sanding, took the chrome off,and scuufed the plastic just enough for painting
