Civil rights icon Rosa Parks dies

DETROIT (Reuters) - Rosa Parks, the black seamstress whose refusal to give her seat on a Montgomery, Alabama, bus to a white man sparked a revolution in American race relations, died on Monday at age 92.

Rosa Parks was an icon in this area. I met the lady in her apartment when she was about 82. She was just as soft spoken as could be yet had a dignified presence.

She did more for this country with her passive act of resistance than all of the politicians have done since.

She will be missed but remembered with the greatest respect.

I hope they replace Joe Lewis' fist monument with a huge stature of Ms. Parks.
