Hi,

I've got a 96 Mark VIII. Since I've had the car, while driving on the freeway, I feel a slight clunk when I step on the gas to accelerate. Seems to only happen while I'm coasting, then just barely give it a little gas. Kind of annoying. Just wondering if this is normal or whether I might have something loose down there in the transmission.

Thank you

Either the u-joints, or the rear carrier bushings.

The bushings are going out on my 94, and doing the exact same thing your talking about. More noticable with mine due to the 5-speed.

My money is on u-joint. Check them right away. When they get to the point of clunking, they can fail at any moment.
