I took my car(2001 V8) to the dealership and they said the valve covers were leaking which causes me to need new gaskets, new plugs and coil boots. The valve cover gaskets will be covered under my extended warranty(47k miles on car) but the plugs and boots will cost me 350 bucks. Where can i buy some boots from and how hard are they to put on? This will be the forst time having to work on this car

Just went through this

Last month my '01 V8 had similar issues. My ESP warranty picked up all. They had to replace the coils, as they had gone bad due to the oil leak(s). I would be surprised if you get away w/o replacing the coils.
Boots are easy, as are the plugs. The smaller covers on the V.C. remove and there are the COP's. Disconnect the wiring to the COP, remove the one attaching bolt and remove the COP. Boots twist off basically, install opposite. You might gently pull / extend the spring that makes the contact with the sparkplug. Re install. There is a great tech section on this topic here in the site. As for where to buy, I have only found these and the ones for my 5.4 Navigator motor at Ford. They are about 13 - 14 dollars each.
Good Luck
