Coil Spring Conversion Kit????

Hi,

I still have my air ride, I’m starting to have troubles with the front bags, been thinking about Coil Spring Conversion Kits are they any good? Or even go with coils in front and stay with the bags in the rear. I would like input with do you guys think?

Go with the Struts-R-Us kit and do all 4 corners at once. I did mine, fronts first and the rears 2 weeks later. I was forced to do the rears then as the rear slammed. I did mine with stock T-Bird SC parts from a doner car and it was a lot of work, in the rear especially. I had to remove the rear bag mounts and weld in the upper spring mounts from the T-Bird. All that work is eliminated with the kit from Struts-R-Us that I didn't know about when I did the conversion on my Mark.

the kit is a pretty easy install with 2 people and a jack,well worth it,also gey the lowered version, i think they are offering that right now at no additional charge,and check out e bay the kits are cheaper there.....less than 400 bucks :Beer

I'm going with the coil spring conversion, front and rear 1.5" lower.
Thanks to this forum, I was directed to Suspension Alternatives. They had the front/rear kit for $335 for my 97 Mark. With Calif. tax and shipping I just touched $402 total. With the cores from my old air ride equipment the cost should be lowered even more. Being from the old school musclecar set, I though this was a steal for a coil over conversion and jumped on it. Just waiting for UPS to bring my goodies to the door. Good luck.
 
I bought a kit for front and back. I installed the front only because the rear bags are fine.
I don't like the kit! The front end is floatie! At highway speeds it will bounce up and down alot when I pass over a rough area of a road. (Not A Good Thing) When going over speed bumps the front end will bounce up and down about 6 times. I also replaced the rear shocks with good shocks at the same time. When the rear goes over speed bumps it bounces only once and then back to normal ride height. I did get the normal non lowered kit, I didn't want to be dragging the bottom of my car all the time.
I hope this helps you make up your mind.

I just did both front struts, compressor and evan a "spider valve" from American Air, been working great...
