A week ago finally my coils went, I had changed the plugs like a month ago and then suddenly it started misfiring, before I changed the plugs the wasn't any misfiring, I found some oil on the plugs and cleaned it put the new plugs and everything worked fine for like 2 or 3 weeks, also like 3 coils seemed to be original and the rest are different (the originals have the SN written at the top of the silicone and the rest have a sticker with the SN), so I checked the coils after the failure and looking closely there are some cracks on the silicone that its supposed to isolate the current, so reading online I have read some articles that repair the coils sealing them with epoxy, for example on the VW vr6, I know its not the same and the vr6 uses a single coil pack, but my question is... have anyone tried to repair their coils on the LS? because the failure on my engine its not constant and it could be just that the spark sometimes goes to somewhere else and not to the plug because of the isolation from the silicone right?

i have assumed this to be the method used by ebay sellers. The epoxy is clearly repotted because it is filled too high, there are scratches on the body. They throw a new boot and spring in it and cross their fingers that it makes good electrical connection. often the sides of the electrical tab are worn so the connection is loose. also, the electrical connectors often fit loose and don't snap onto the car's connector. then a sticker is slapped onto it.
with that said, i think the coils just have a relatively short life since its not uncommon to get these remanufactured coils and some of them don't work. repotting may be a good short term fix, but i wouldnt expect it to last like a new one. however everyone's car is run under different conditions and results will vary.
