I have a 95 mk VIII and live in indiana, this winter it got pretty darn cold this year and i have noticed that when it is cold- around 32 degrees or colder, I start the car to warm it up to leave for work and when i drop it in gear and give it the least bit of gas, it almost wants to flat on its face. it spits and sputters-it has not died when it does this but very concerning and very irritating i paint cars in a body shop not a mechanic any answers would be very helpful!!!! thanx,Mark --- Yes, my name is mark and i own a mark pretty anal huh....

I would start out by taking a look at the sensors, one by one.

IAT: Intake Air Temp
ECT: Engine Coolant Temp
etc.

Actually, why don't you see if you are pulling any codes and go from there.

thanx man should i do this myself or have the stealership look at this--- by the way i changed the plugs less than 1,000 mi. ago the other day the Chk Eng light lit up on the high way and it sputtered a little when i held it at 65 mph but it didnt do it w/thecruise on

Definately check the codes and get back to us, then we can help you fix it.
We'll wait till we know what it is before telling you how to fix it or to go to the dealer or not.

Go to autozone and have them pull the codes for free. Fror a deeper look at the computer, you need to go to the dealer. I'd try to find a deal first before I would pull into ANY dealer for a code pull.

Did you gap the plugs at .054 at the widest or .048 at the narrowest? Sounds
like you might have a bad plug or even a bad boot/wire.
