How does everyone's cars start in the cold? I was thoroughly surprised with how well she cranked over on Friday after sitting in almost sub-zero temps all week. I do have 2 batteries, one is mounted in the trunk, grounded to the frame and 2ga positive wire between the batteries. I have over 1100 CCA between the 2 batteries.

All my cars start fine in the cold, never had a problem with any of them not wanting to start, a few dead batteries but they start right up when I hook it up to a charger or jump start them.

Our weather here isn't cold enough to judge but I use synthetic oil and an Autozone Platinum battery.

Just remember if your under-hood battery starts to go, pulling the amperage from the rear battery can blow its fuse. You are fused at both ends for the rear-mounted battery, right? I learned that the hard way 20+ years ago when a 0-gauge (run by a customer, not me) got pinched and shorted somewhere under the car.

I'm pretty satisfied with the Ac delco batteries in my cars, my CTS is the only one that the battery dies on, but it's the oldest out of all the batteries, and once I had detailed it the day before and forgot to disconnect the battery so the doors were open and keys in ignition for about 5 or 6 hours, so really I've only had a true dead battery once with it this winter.

Yep fused at both ends within a foot of each battery. Front battery is brand new from O'Reilly's Super Start Platinum AGM battery, just got it a month and a half ago. I have almost $2000 into the sound system of this car, I can't short myself on power, safety, and peace-of-mind.

It has been -35C here and the motor turns over slowly before starting. No block heater, but I use a magnetic heater on the oil pan. As long as I keep a good battery installed and serviced, my car will go.

Never any problem, but it is North Jersey, so we don't get midwest freezes (at least not for long).

I had the optional engine warmer plug in my now deceased 94 TBird LX. I think I use it once in 18 years.

(Wow, I had fogotten that I even owned that car 18 years. Nicest dash of any car I've ever owned).

The 97 Deville I owned before this car had some trouble starting after sitting for a day or 2 in the cold. It wasn't a battery issue, but the engine just did not want to turn over at all.
