That was an interesting comparison. I wonder what the price differences were back when they were new ?

The G35 coupe with the manual tranny, sports package and moon roof was about $35k in 2003, and with the auto about $32k.

The g35 exhaust and the 350z have some of the nicest exhaust purrs of any v6's ive heard. So precised and tuned sounding. I still love my 4.6 though.

I concur. The V-6 inherently is a rough powerplant, and the V-8 of the Mark really smooths out the cycle, and delivers more low end torque. I love the VQ35DE, which has been rated one of the best engines in the world by Wards for more than ten consecutive years. But the 4.6L is no slouch when it comes to being one of the finest fundamental designs around either.

And no question about design. The 1993 Mark beats the 2003 G35 hands down on looks.

Does this mean I will be driving a G35 coupe in 10 years? My mark is 10 years old now. Something to think about....

If you asked 10 people which car looks better 9/10 would say the G35 Coupe.

Hey I love the way the Mark VIII looks especially with tint and dropped and cobrastar emblems (haha) but the g35 coupe still looks cleaner to me and it should considering it's 10 years newer.

BTW, 1/4 mile times auto vs. auto, 93 Mark VIII should be around 14.8 at 95mph and the 03 G35 coupe should be 14.6 at 96mph.

yeah i understand and agree,
i just want to stick up for our cars,

:D

Not every stock 93 will run 14.8. A very rare few have run in the 14.6 range and most run in the 14.9-15.1 range. I used a median, just like I did with the G35 coupe auto. Some will run as fast as 14.3 bone stock but a lot will run 14.8 stock.

On vacation last the year before, my wife and I reserved a luxury car from the rental agency. We expected them to show up with a Lincoln or a Caddy. We ended up with a g35. Yeah, the specs are good, but the car is noisy, the ride is awful, and the engine sounds like crap when pushed. If you're unlucky enough to get stuck in the rain, it will take all of your concentration to maybe hold 60 without sliding around in weather that the Mark VIII will do 70 and the Town Car and Navigator will do 80 without any problems.

If you're moving up from a very cheap econobox, it's probably OK. But if you've been buying and leasing real luxury cars (we have mostly Lincolns, but my wife's latest lease is a Jaguar Vanden Plas) then the G35 feels like the cheap econobox from which it was derived.

Best regards,
Frank C

the VQ35 hasnt been out for 10 years yet;)

but the VQ series has been one of the 10 best for that time.

mine ran a 14.5 stock. i feel 14.8 is a good median to cover the freaks and the turds.
