So the compass on my 98 tells me that i'm going south( south east, sometimes east) and only that never north or west. Is this a calibration issue or is something toast in the computer.
I would try recalibrating it first. Mine read wrong when I got it, after recalibration it is golden.
Do you have a sub woofer in the rear? If it's the same as a Gen I compass the compass can be affected by the magnet of the sub woofer.
Otherwise have fun driving in circles ... LOL
Well Ill be...... I always wondered why Sapperfires blue cars compass never worked right. Forgot all about the first gens having the sensor in the rear.Do you have a sub woofer in the rear? If it's the same as a Gen I compass the compass can be affected by the magnet of the sub woofer.

You have a very smart car.Move south ,imeadiately.Just not too far south.
I like seeing my MPG average more.
Sell it and buy a 2nd gen!
i know this is an old thread but i just got my windows tinted and now the compass only points south its stuck on south. At first it started switching from north to north east back and forth and it kept on saying check compass but now its just stuck on south. How do i recalibrate the compass?
It's not a life-changing event. It takes two minutes to complete and meanwhile a bunch of people get to laugh at the drunk guy in the parking lot with his Mark VIII. LOL
