I just got my mb quart 5.25" components installed. They sound horrible and I cant imagine that they are running like they should. They seem to distort before my stock paper 6x8s. They installed the tweeter by the speaker which is fine for now, however, i dont think it would effect the sound so much that they sound like $10 walmart speakers. He claimed that i need a sub and that they are currently playing midbass.. I do not feel any bass at all. Just treb and distorted bass which is only noticeable because it is distorted.(no feel at all)
He also suggested that my amp is not good enough. It is a US acoustics USX-4065 amp which puts out 65 watts rms at 4 ohms. It has all the fequency and crossover controls.
At one point i asked the guy if possibly the crossover was hooked up wrong or maybe backwards.
Before the install i had the 4 stock door speakers amped and even they sounded better(6x8). They were set on the amp to play all freqencies, which he readjusted to play pretty much no bass.

ANY HELP IS GOOD

I will assume that your MB's are brand new. All the MB's I listened too in cars sounded awesome! A couple suggestions for your issue. You can always manipulate your crossover settings on your amp, output levels and if you have on your amp, the bass boost. I am not familiar with your brand amp though so can't speak specifics. I can say I had a similiar incident though. I had a Accord EX coupe with the factory headunit. I bought Clarion Pro Audio tweets and 5.5 inch midsubs-that included a crossover. Tweet's in the dash, Midsubs in the door, crossover just behind glovebox. I already had 2 MTX 12's and MTX 2 way crossover in the trunk powered by a RF Punch 600 amp. So, I was in a rush for a road trip, didn't want to take the time myself to install the components and a spare 300 watt Jensen Amp. I took the car to a local audio shop, they installed in right away for a good price while I waited. Go out when they are done and everything sounded pretty good. Sign the bill, and while on the way home, I crank the stereo. Anything over 1/3rd volume sounded like crap! Distortion and it seemed like they didn't even hook up the 300 watt amp. So I get home, crawl in the trunk, found that they set the crossover settings on BOTH amps wrong. They maxed out the output of both amps so they heated up really quick(Almost burning the carpet of my sub box) and with a lil swapping of the positive and negative cables from the components to the amp, I tuned it near perfect. After that, for the next 2 years, I had a cheap amp powering very nice components that resulted in ear piercing clarity from tweets and a deep subtle base range from the midsubs. The midsubs did not boom, they shouldn't, but they filled that range between the 6x9's in the rear desk and the booming 12's in truck.

You won't hurt anything by tuning your amp/crossover/headunit. It takes time, but worth the effort. If you don't confident about doing this, find a friend or take it to another reputable shop and just ask them to listen and then suggest idea's to you.

Also, and I hope they didn't do this, but are you sure they installed your MB's and not some other brand? I have heard of install shops that cheat the customers by installing other brands and keeping the quality sounds you just paid big bucks for!

I actually miss my Accord with that system.
Good luck
Chuck
