When I bought the lowering switch kit from ray, he mentioned something about if your car makes a real loud noise when your car is rasing and lowering, then the compressor is bad. Well mine is definately doing that. How much does one cost and how hard are they to install?

thanks,
scott

Check the sponsors to the right, Strutmasters and Arnott for the price... Installing one isn't too bad if the air intake silencer is already out, if it's still in it could make it a PITA to get the compressor out...

Mine is loud as hell, been that way since I bought it in 97. Never had a problem. Its only bad when it stops working all together.

Eddie @ www.americanairsuspension.com is the place to get one. He rebuilds them to better than stock in every aspect and the price is VERY reasonable compared to $400 for a new one from Ford.

ok, sounds good to me. The only thin I have noticed about my car though is when it sits overnight one of back end drops more than the other, does that mean it's gone bad? If so, how much does a rear airbag cost and are they hard to install?

sho89mtx, its true that a noisey compressor can be noisey for years without giving a problem. If has been fairly quiet for a long time and all of the sudden its making noise, it "could" mean trouble. If it was easy to get to, it wouldn't be that big of a deal, but its buried in the RF fender. So if it goes out, your either on a flatbed or going to have a sore back the next day.

The rearend lowering overnight is a telltale sign that the spring(s) is/are leaking. Keep in mind that the module goes to sleep an hour after you shut the car off and close the door, so if its going down at night, it a leak....not compressor related.

Usually by the time someone realizes they have a leak, its already been leaking for 6 months+ plus, so this may explain an overworked compressor.

If you want more proof, do a leak test. Go here to find out how without even getting your hands dirty: http://www.americanairsuspension.com/how-to leak test.htm
